When I was in the Army I hated conducting arms room inventory. Arms room inventory had to be conducted each month and although it was not the job I was "hired" for, I was assigned to that position. Not only did I have to inventory the arms room, I was also had to inventory all equipment assigned to my unit.
Inventory was an all day task and it was necessary. It was necessary to ensure the unit stayed battle ready. United States was at war and at any time my unit could have been called to the war zone and if weapons were lost or damaged or equipment was not available, the unit could have suffered defeat
Follow me.....
Conducting self inventory is necessary as a person and as a follower of Christ because we are always at war. We have to ensure we are battle ready at all times, so even in peace time we should monitor what is in our vault.
Everyday we face different circumstances and these circumstances require different types of weapons; make sure your arsonal is full.
Today I decided to take inventory and I wept for over an hour. I inventoried my heart and noticed my heart is not postured correctly and my motives are not always pure. Forbearance was missing from my vault. Joy was missing from my vault. Prayer was running low..... If I had not taken inventory, I would still assume I was ready to be a productive member of God's army, I would assume I was functioning at full capacity. Now I understand why I have been losing some battles or lack wisdom in the midst of the battle.
We are a work in progress and must make time for a work in progress inventory. The process may take a minute to complete but it will help you identify areas in which you need to restock! Our goal is to become finished goods, ready to see our Father.
This is good because I haven’t been taking inventory and I need to examine myself
Amen we must not lose sight of our mission. To see the one who died for me in spite of me.
